Everyone has their own unique balance. Some people feel lazy if they aren’t working 60 hours a week while for others working more than 20 hours is overwhelming. Some people need a lot of time with friends while others need very little. There are many areas in which we need to maintain balance. Consider your life in all of these dimensions.

It is certainly possible, and at times even necessary, to be out of balance. Sometimes the demands of life require you to neglect your balance to attend to some need. But, if you stay out of balance too long, you will begin to wear out in some way.
Often, the signs of wearing out start so subtly they are easy to overlook. You might find yourself a little less patient or having an extra drink after dinner. But, unless you attend to your balance, the issues will get worse. The pressures of leadership can be a major factor in being out of balance. Physical problems, emotional decline and relational distress are often the result of being chronically out of balance.
